The Aim of The Scout Association is to promote the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potentials as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities.

Scouting believes the world is a better place when people are trustworthy, self-controlled and self confident, have self respect and respect for others, work together to serve other people and to improve society, show responsibility towards the natural world and proper respect for possessions, property and have an active religious faith.

The Scout Promise expresses the principles of duty to God, Self and Others.

From its inception Scouting has had a simple and positive Promise that is required to be made by all its Members. Together with the Law, this gives a distinctive Hq1.jpg (51311 bytes)ethos to the practices of the Movement, and acts as a bond with Scouts in other countries.

Furze Platt Scout Group has its own headquarters in the northern part of Maidenhead. We have a Beaver Colony, Cub Pack and Scout Troop. All groups are open to both boys and girls. The older Scouts move on to the Maidenhead East Explorer Unit. Each section meets on one evening each week at our head quarters. Cubs Hq4.jpg (52847 bytes)and Beavers during school term time only. During the summer months we regularly meet at our own campsite near Cookham. We are a very active Group. All Sections have the opportunity to Camp at least wpe21845.gif (262438 bytes)once a year whether it be the weekend Parent and Child Camp, the annual Cub Camp or a 10 day Scout Summer Camp in adventurous country.

Full details about each of the Sections are on the Section pages.
