Scouts Poem

Saturday we meet, all excited and fresh
Who would have realised we’d come back such a mess!
A journey so far in a bus white and clean.
When we arrived at our campsite, so basic it did seem.
So natural so fresh, so wet! Underfoot.
Up went our tents, and scouts run to woods.
Our first night on camp, hot chocolate a must.
Marshmallows on sticks, hot with a sweet crust.

Sunday on camp, activities on site.
Making gadgets, cooking dinner, next thing we know it’s night.
Monday we hiked, stopping for lunch, having a break.
A hike through fields and woodland we did take.
Later on bikes we went round the site,
With puddles and mud, a scout’s delight!

Surfing on Tuesday, fun had by all.
Awesome! Exciting! Expect to fall!
With lamb chops for dinner, and pudding galore
Being a scout you couldn’t ask for more!
So peaceful, yet loud, with the sounds of laughs.
Scouts exploring woods, and finding new paths.

A bike ride on Wednesday, that lasted all day.
Up hills through woods, hard work we did all say!
Lunch at the top, wild ponies as guests,
A challenging ride, that put us all to the test.

Thursday a treat! Swimming pool, get clean feet!
Then shopping in town for pressies when home.
Groups of 5 scouts, go off of their own.
Chips by the sea, fun day had by us.
All feeling tired! Early bedtime a must.

On Friday a banquet, the scouts gave a try.
With chicken Satay, garlic bread and stir fry.
As judges we were set a task to be done,
They shopped; they cooked, in patrols that had been set.
A struggle it was to cook, the wood was so wet!
A tee-pee we built, to sleep in tonight,
As we begin to clear our sight.

Saturday we awake to bird chorus and sun,
We really have had such good fun making friends, working as a team,
Packing up camp, a bit of a dream.
Tired bodies in our bus, travelling back,
All anyone wants is to hit the sack!
Fun and laughs all week, tears of joy and pain!
BUT YOU KNOW WHAT? CAN’T WAIT TO DO IT ALL AGAIN!!!
